Owl Literacy Academy is an educational services practice, not a medical, psychological, or legal provider. Please read the following disclosures carefully before engaging our services or relying on information provided through this website.
The services provided by Owl Literacy Academy, including the CRISP assessment, one-on-one literacy tutoring, and family consultations, are educational in nature. They are not medical treatment, psychological therapy, or clinical diagnosis.
The CRISP assessment is a structured educational reading assessment. It is not a psychoeducational evaluation and does not constitute a diagnosis of dyslexia or any other learning disability under IDEA, Section 504, or any state or federal law.
If you are seeking a formal diagnosis for eligibility purposes (such as for special education services, 504 plans, or accommodations testing), a full psychoeducational evaluation conducted by a licensed psychologist or educational diagnostician may be required in addition to, or instead of, a CRISP assessment. Dr. Dymes can help you understand the difference and point you in the right direction.
Owl Literacy Academy offers guidance to help families understand their child's educational rights and navigate IEP and 504 meetings. This guidance is educational and informational only.
Dr. Dymes is not an attorney. IEP and 504 guidance provided by Owl Literacy Academy does not constitute legal advice or legal representation. If you require legal advocacy in a dispute with a school district, please consult a licensed education attorney or a Parent Training and Information (PTI) center in North Carolina.
Reading development is influenced by many individual factors including the nature and severity of the student's literacy challenges, consistency of intervention, home support, and the student's own engagement. While Dr. Dymes brings substantial expertise and evidence-based methods to every student, Owl Literacy Academy makes no guarantee of specific academic outcomes or reading level gains for any individual child.
Information published on this website is intended for general educational purposes. It does not constitute professional advice for any individual situation. For guidance specific to your child, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Dymes directly.
While we make every effort to keep the information on this site accurate and current, we make no warranties regarding its completeness or applicability to your circumstances.
